Sayed faces Zulu Boy at EFC 39

Johannesburg (South Africa) – EFC bantamweight contender  Irshaad ‘White Tiger’ Sayed has been on an amazing win streak since his debut in EFC. Having won his first two bouts with first round submissions, he then went on to have a war that won ‘Fight of the Night’ against EFC veteran Abdul Hassan. This run of impressive victories put him next in line to face Demarte ‘The Wolf’ Pena for the coveted title. The bout was intended to take place in June or July.

The Muslim month of Ramadan takes place over June and July; Sayed being a devout Muslim is obligated to observe the religious practices that are involved. He has said that he will not be capable of participating at an elite level of competition during this time period and therefore turned down his title shot for now.

The former Muay Thai and RUFF China Champion lives and trains out of Singapore, where he is alienated from his friends and family. He relishes the opportunity to visit them at any given chance, especially if he can compete in front of them and his fans. He was adamant to keep active and compete at home in the meantime, even risking his title shot in process. Sayed will now return to the Hexagon in Cape Town at EFC 39 at catchweight against number one flyweight contender Nkazimulo ‘Zuluboy’ Zulu.

“Pena vs. Sayed would have been an epic war and could still happen,” exclaimed EFC matchmaker Graeme Cartmell, “but every cloud has a silver lining and now we get to see a massive unexpected battle between two division greats.”

There was always a conflict as to who was going to face Pena next; the choice was always between Irshaad Sayed and Cedric Doyle. Stayed tuned for more details.
